Social Assistance

Support for vulnerable persons, emergency aid, help for families in need, isolated elderly people and persons with disabilities. A team of 8 social workers.

Our four main programmes

1. Emergency aid

For households facing a sudden shock (fire, death of the breadwinner, eviction, natural disaster). One-off assistance of 50,000 to 200,000 FCFA paid within 72 hours after social assessment. An interview with a social worker is systematic.

2. Support for isolated elderly people

Weekly home visits, meal delivery (3 times a week, free for people over 70 without family support), administrative help. Over 280 elderly people are currently supported across the district.

3. Support for persons with disabilities

  • help to obtain the disability card;
  • subsidy for equipment (wheelchair, crutches, prostheses) up to 300,000 FCFA;
  • adapted transport on request for medical appointments;
  • referral to partner rehabilitation centres.

4. Food aid

Monthly distribution of food kits (rice, oil, sugar, soap) to families in extreme poverty, identified through the municipal social census. In 2025, 450 families benefited.

Municipal Social Action Committee

Each request is reviewed by a monthly committee made up of the Mayor, the Deputy in charge of social affairs, the Head of Social Services, two municipal council representatives and a representative of the district's charities.

Walk-in hours

The social affairs department receives walk-ins Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. By appointment on other days. For emergencies, call 22 23 45 67.
