Public Lighting

Maintenance, extension and modernisation of the public lighting network. 3,200 light points across the district, including 1,800 solar LEDs. Reports accepted 7 days a week.

A network transitioning to solar

The Yaoundé 1st district has 3,200 public lighting points, of which 1,800 are already solar LED lampposts (56 %). The rest is being converted under the 2024-2028 Sustainable Lighting Plan, aiming for 100 % solar by 2028.

Benefits of solar LED

  • 85 % savings on the public electricity bill;
  • lifespan of 50,000 hours (around 15 years) vs. 4,000 hours for a sodium vapour bulb;
  • independence from the ENEO grid (useful during outages);
  • zero CO₂ emissions in operation.

Report an outage

  • Phone — technical department: +237 222 23 45 67, Monday to Friday 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM;
  • 24/7 hotline — 80 00 12 34 (free);
  • Email — technique@mairie-yde1.cm (attach a photo and geolocation if possible).

Response times

  • Single fault (one lamppost) — 72 hours max;
  • Area fault (5+ consecutive lampposts) — 24 hours;
  • Major outage (entire neighbourhood) — 12 hours, priority response.

Request an extension

Neighbourhood associations can request the extension of lighting to an unserved street. Requests are reviewed by the technical department within 90 days; priorities are set based on population density, security and the annual budget.

number

landmarks) and
