Hygiene & Public Health

Sanitary inspections of restaurants, markets and drinking establishments. Hygiene checks, awareness campaigns, penalties for non-compliance.

Our missions

Sanitary inspections of establishments

The city hall's hygiene inspectors carry out unannounced visits to:

  • restaurants, bars and drinking establishments (about 420 registered);
  • markets and street vendors;
  • bakeries and pastry shops;
  • hair and beauty salons;
  • private schools (canteens).

Checks cover food storage, premises cleanliness, staff hygiene, water quality and waste management.

Issuance and renewal of hygiene certificates

Every food establishment must obtain an annual hygiene certificate issued by the department. Cost: 15,000 FCFA, valid 12 months, renewal requested 30 days before expiry. Displaying the certificate is mandatory.

Pest and vermin control

Quarterly campaigns in public spaces (markets, schools, bus stations). Free home intervention for elderly, disabled or vulnerable persons, on request.
