Document Legalisation

Certified true copies, signature legalisation, authentication of administrative documents. Immediate delivery at the counter, 500 FCFA per document.

Types of legalisation offered

Certified true copies

The city hall attests that the copy presented conforms to the original. Useful for application files, scholarships, visas. 500 FCFA per document, immediate issuance at the counter.

Signature legalisation

The city hall certifies that the signature on a document is indeed that of the named person. Physical presence and ID required. 1,000 FCFA per signature.

Certificate of life and identity

Certifies that the person is alive and correctly identified. Often required for retirement pensions or certain banking procedures. 2,000 FCFA, valid 6 months.

Proof of residence

Certifies that the person resides in the Yaoundé 1st district. Proof of address less than 3 months old required. 1,000 FCFA.

Accepted documents

  • diplomas and transcripts;
  • civil registry and family documents;
  • contracts (lease, employment, sale);
  • simple powers of attorney;
  • sworn statements.

Non-legalisable documents

  • untranslated foreign documents (must first be translated by a sworn translator);
  • tax documents (under the Tax Directorate);
  • notarial documents (under notaries);
  • court documents (under the courts).

Counter hours

Legalisation counter open Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM continuously. No appointment needed, first-come first-served.

tax stamp or payment receipt from the treasury. For signature legalisation: physical presence of the person whose signature is to be certified is mandatory
